To also help extend the life of your projector, we offer a variety of
Projector Care Tips to help ensure a long life and
flawless performance. Another way to extend the life of your projector is to take the necessary steps to get
the most out of your projector bulbs.
With the cost of replacement LCD and DLP bulbs, it is important that projector owners do everything they can
to extend the lamp life of their LCD or DLP projectors. Here is a list of tips to help ensure you get the most
out of your projector lamps:
- Consult your owner's manual for proper configurement guidelines. It is important that there is enough space between the projector's exhaust and intake fans and walls, ceilings, or enclosed compartments to ensure the unit does not overheat. LCD and DLP bulbs may fail if guidelines are not followed.
- Once you switch your projector off, do not unplug it. LCD and DLP projectors have fans which may continue to run after the unit is turned off to cool the lamp and help prevent overheating.
- Do not move the projector until the lamp has cooled. Heated bulbs are extremely fragile, and vibrations caused during movement may cause the filament to break.
- Limit the number of times you turn your projector on and off during a presentation. The energy that results from powering up your projector excites the bulb's filament, and excessive excitement in a short period of time may cause failure.
- LCD and DLP projectors should have their intake cleaned every 3-6 months, depending on the amount of usage. Clogged filters will cause overheating and result in the failure of bulbs.
- To allow bulbs to run at a lower brightness, utilize "low lamp" or "economy mode" whenever possible.
